"Data workers, for their part, have formed collectives to fight back against platforms and their worst excesses. In Kenya, Daniel Motaung and 150 workers convened in Nairobi in mid-2023 to form the African Content Moderators Union, which is one of the first unions of content moderators and data workers worldwide. Motaung was fired from Sama, the contractor providing Facebook (and, previously, OpenAl) with content moderation and other data work, for his organizing efforts, and is now suing Facebook and Sama in Kenyan court."

#DanielMotaung, hero.

"#Meta informed data subjects that, despite that fact that an objection to AI training under Article 21(2) #GDPR was accepted in 2024, their personal data will be processed unless they object again—against its former promises, which further undermines any legitimate trust in Meta’s organizational ability to properly execute the necessary steps when data subjects exercise their rights."

Ars Technica · Meta is making users who opted out of AI training opt out again, watchdog saysBy Ashley Belanger

I'm now 95% off Farcebook.

I promised to help manage a couple private hobby groups and group builds because they are tied to our forums, but only when necessary. Non-negotiable.

I blocked anyone and anything that isn't #ScaleModel related, perma-wiped all my stuff ... and left only a single post telling people where else to find me if they really care.

Once the group builds / groups are done, I'm out. Or once fake AI friends start to flood the place, whichever comes first.
