Raoul Dufy. Open windows to Nice series, 1928.

These are brand new to me! I've likely seen them before and just browsed past, but this morning I'm paying attention. Look at that very modern framebreak, and the early division of triptych panels which will play a huge part in his legacy. Also imagine where he had to be to paint this vantage! Castle Hill was pretty swell digs, even then. Like Hopper he's using modern reframing to play with the fussy antiques of the previous century. #Painting
